Not All Heroes Wear Capes: UCSD Tree Planting

tree planting

Hello friends!

I wanted to give you a quick recap of our event with UCSD! The event was held on March 12th, and we had a blast. Everyone got a chance to plant their own tree and learn about the importance of taking care of the environment while they were at it. We even had some snacks and beverages to keep us energized throughout the day. Here are some photos from the event:

I stumbled across this event from the San Diego Salesforce Community Group. Salesforce has committed to joining the 1 Trillion Tree initiative and has set a target of saving and restoring 100 million trees over the next decade.

I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to meet other people who are passionate about sustainability so I signed up and joined the cause! For Arbor Day, we teamed up with California Volunteers, the California Urban Forests Council, and Tree San Diego to plant trees at UCSD.

In addition to the people who came out to plant trees with us, we got an incredible response from UCSD, which was gracious enough to host us in their beautiful campus botanical garden. We’re so grateful for their partnership and hope that they’ll keep working with us to support the environment in San Diego.

The benefits of planting trees on campus

The benefits of planting trees on campus are many. First and foremost, planting trees helps improve air quality and reduce carbon emissions. Trees also help cool the environment, which is especially important on a hot day. Additionally, planting trees can help reduce stress and create a sense of community.

When it comes to the environment, trees have a number of benefits. They help improve air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen. Trees also help cool the environment by providing shade and evapotranspiration. In hot weather, trees can provide relief from the heat, and in cold weather, they can protect against the wind.

Trees also have a number of social benefits. They can help create a sense of community by providing a gathering place for people. Trees can also reduce stress and promote well-being.

The bottom line is that trees provide a number of benefits to our environment and our community. If you have the opportunity to participate in a tree-planting event, we encourage you to do so! It’s a great way to make a positive impact on the world around us.
